Live Like a Kid
Nash,NC
This is a two-day tour designed to wear out your inner child. Pet a Clydesdale, sink a hole in one at putt putt, skate your heart out to 80s tunes before retiring to your own tiny house hotel room. And that’s just the first day. Day two is all about treating yourself with giant milkshakes, a Segway tour, and the wackiest birds you’ve ever seen. Get ready to play like a kid. You deserve it.
Day 1

STOP 1: Game Day
When it comes to entertainment and fun, Game Day Adventure & Arcade won’t disappoint. Game Day has something for everyone and all ages, featuring a state-of-the-art video arcade as well as a Ballocity soft play arena for the little ones. There will also be a Sky Trail Aerial Ropes Course and several unique fun wall-climbing elements that offer both adventure and challenge for everyone ages 4 and up.

STOP 2: Barley and Burger
Nosh on gourmet burgers with a movie themed twist at Barley and Burger. Start with the fried pickles and one of the local beers on draft before debating the merits of the burgers like the Goonies-inspired “Truffle Shuffle” (caramelized onions, fried mushrooms, swiss cheese and truffle aioli) or the “Marty McFly” (American cheese, chili, slaw and mustard). One bite in one of these 100% black angus beef burgers and your taste buds will be as electrified as 1.21 gigawatts.

STOP 3: Mini Putt Indoor Golf
When in doubt, putt putt. Everyone loves a game of miniature golf, especially when the 18-hole course is laid out next to an arcade featuring dance games, video games, and air hockey. Be your kids’ hero and say yes to this afternoon of family fun.

STOP 4: Sky-Vue Skateland
Smooth hardwood floors, a fleet of rental skates, flashing lights, great tunes. . .it’s the skateland you remember from childhood. Locals have been zooming around this indoor space since 1958. The second-generation family owned roller rink has seen a few updates, but the idea is the same: Strap some wheels to your feet and have fun.

STOP 5: Tipsy Tomato
The Tipsy Tomato is the perfect example of the food you want, precisely where you want it. This little artisan, wood-fired pizza restaurant is located just minutes off the Tar River Trail and right beside the largest Craft Beer campus in this part of North Carolina. Located in a cute, little white house, this place makes you feel both at home and hungry at the same time. Order a large wood fired pizza for the family or build your own personal pie or turnover. Then enjoy your order from a table on their large wooden deck with a view of the Rocky Mount Mills campus. So get your steps in and pop over for a couple slices and a cold one.

STOP 6: Tiny House
Ready to feel like a giant? River and Twine is the world’s largest tiny home hotel and it’s located right here in Rocky Mount. You can choose from one of 27 different tiny homes located in a cozy, wooded setting right beside the Rocky Mount Mills campus. Your accommodations come complete with board games and Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. All you have to bring is a sense of adventure and conversation. Did we mention there are breweries just across the parking lot?
Day 2

STOP 7: Sylvan Heights Bird Park
Prepare to be a perch for a parakeet at Sylvan Heights Bird Park. This 18-acre park gives visitors an unforgettable up-close experience with over 2,000 waterfowl, parrots, toucans, flamingos, and other exotic birds from around the world. Stroll through spacious, walk-through aviaries and gawk at the iridescent colors and songs of birds from South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. The aviaries are surrounded by tranquil gardens and lush natural areas, which enhance the beauty of the birds on exhibit and immerse visitors in native North Carolina wildlife habitat.

STOP 8: TTC Segway Tours
Take a guided Segway tour through the downtown area or the Tar River Trail. TTC offers Segway training through an obstacle course and teaches you how to use them safely. All safety gear provided, just bring your balance and sense of adventure. (minimum age is 14)

STOP 9: Imperial Center
Get up close to the moon at the Imperial Centre for Arts and Sciences. This 135,000 square foot converted tobacco mill offers guests a chance to touch a moon rock and get a peek through a telescope at what lies beyond the atmosphere. The science and art center make for a good half-day of hands-on learning that will ignite everyone’s imagination.
