Outdoors Tour
Nash County, NC
Get ready for a hike that covers 300 acres and seven miles of trails. Lodging that will make you feel like a giant. And the chance to embarrass yourself as you mistake sticks for snakes. Welcome to the outdoors in Nash County.
Day 1

STOP 1: Tar River Trail
The Tar River Trail is part of an outdoor system that covers over 300 acres and offers over seven miles of trails. The trail runs, in part, next to the Tar River and links five different city parks. Along the path you’ll encounter Stonewall Manor, an Antebellum plantation house that is almost 200 years old as well as one of the longest wooden pedestrian bridges in the United States. Bring your hiking boots and prepare to give your fitbit a workout.

STOP 2: Tiny House Hotel
River and Twine is the world’s largest tiny home hotel and it’s located right here in Rocky Mount. You can choose from one of 20 different tiny homes located in a cozy, wooded setting. Your accommodations come compete with wood and Adirondacks around a fire pit. All you have to bring is the sense of adventure and conversation.
Day 2

STOP 3: TTC Segway Tours
Today we trade in your hiking shoes for a Segway. If you can lean forward, you can ride these motorized miracles. This three-hour tour ventures around many parts of the Tar River Trail including Battle Park. At 57 Acres, it’s Rocky Mount’s largest Park and centered on the Falls of the Tar River. Take in the scenery. Enjoy the sounds of the rushing water. Be thankful you don’t have to walk back to your car. Make a reservation online before you go: https://ttcsegwaytours.com/tours/

STOP 4: Rocky Mount Mills
A few years back, a craft beer incubator opened in Nash County. It’s the largest in the area and it’s located in Rocky Mount Mills, a 6,000-square-foot shipping warehouse and beer garden. Currently it houses 5 craft breweries, 3 restaurants, a coffee shop and a bookstore. Plan on making a stop here to taste the latest craft brews, sample a gourmet taco or possibly spot Sasquatch (depending on how many craft beers you sample).
Day 3

STOP 5: City Lake Park
City Lake is located off Sunset Avenue at the Tar River. Joggers and walkers can make a trek around a half-mile concrete path surrounding the lake, while others can relax under the tall hardwoods and pines. If you're feeling adventurous you can even venture across the bride to the park island for chance to visit the parks other inhabitants, hundreds of ducks:)

STOP 6: The Tipsy Tomato
The Tipsy Tomato is the perfect example of the food you want, precisely where you want it. This little artisan, wood-fired pizza restaurant is located just minutes off the Tar River Trail and right beside the largest Craft Beer campus in this part of North Carolina. So get your steps in and pop over for a couple slices and a cold one.

STOP 7: Sunset Disc Golf Park
Spend a morning or the entire day enjoying one of America’s hottest new sports, disc golf! Sunset Park’s 18-hole course winds through the woods and around the park. You’ll find long straightaways, doglegs, and one heavily obstructed hole, but most of what you will find is a day of great fun for all ages.
